About the Island
A Hidden Gem of the Caribbean
St. Eustatius — "Statia" to those who know it — is a special municipality of the Netherlands, sharing that status with Saba and Bonaire. At roughly 21 km² and home to around 3,100 residents, it is small, unhurried, and refreshingly uncommercial.
The island is crowned by The Quill, a near-perfect green peak whose crater holds a lush tropical rainforest. To the north, the rugged Boven hills meet the sea. Between them sits a gentle central plain where most of island life unfolds.
Like Saba, Statia has no high-rises and no crowds — just dramatic scenery, a deep sense of history, and a close-knit community.
